A seasonal Belgian saison originally brewed to give as gifts for customers visiting the brewery during the holiday season, and sold publicly in the 1970s for seeing in the New Year with best wishes (“bons vœux” in French).
This beer releases intense aromas of yellow fruit (ripe banana), citrus (orange and lemon) and spices (clove). These aromas unfurl in a rich, complex palate with hints of malt (roasted hazelnut). The raw hops give the beer a complex, distinctive aroma.
It’s wonderfully effervescent, with bubbles that shoot up the sides of the glass and a large, rocky white head.
There are aromas of lemon zest and apples, and the body is crisp and refreshing, with notes of biscuit malt, pepper and a bit of coriander. There’s a slight hop bitterness in the finish, which invites you to have another glass.
This festive holiday saison is even more intense than the classic Saison Dupont, generating flavors of banana and citrus and stone fruit, with a delicate brace of hops peppering a yeasty cloud of foam that bubbles up like moussey Champagne when the cage and cork are released.
We recommend serving it at cellar temperature (12°C) or very slightly chilled.
