A blend of Adambier aged in peated single malt barrels from France, rounded out with a bit of 4 year double barrel-aged barleywine aged in Blanton's bourbon, then a rye ex-cognac barrel.
This iteration of Adambier uses freshly emptied French whiskey barrels from La Piautre, a brewery/distillery on the banks of the loire river that utilizes local organic grain (and they smoke their own peated malt!) to make intense, Islay-style whiskey.
The impact these barrels had on the Adambier is enormous. There are strong peat smokey notes, leather, citrus, and brine, but the blending of the barleywine portion has added layers of boozy complexity, richness, and oxidative dark fruit notes. A tightrope walk between some big, big flavours.
