A blend of imperial stouts aged in Blanton’s bourbon barrels for 35 months.

Conditioned on Geisha coffee grown on a secret family farm on a volcano in Guatemala, locally roasted by Prototype Coffee.

For this blend, Temporal cracked into some of the oldest barrels of imperial stout that they have, filled way back in May of 2021. These barrels have been tucked away for the long haul, but it's finally time to start getting into them.

The base for this coffee stout is essentially Isolated Horizon, a straight-up Blanton's BA imperial stout with no other additions, released last summer. At that point the barrels of this particular base beer were two years old.

Temporal went in a very different direction with the coffee in this stout, compared to the more classic coffee character in Coffee Orbital Distortion. Gesha coffee (spelled "geisha", generally, when grown outside Ethiopia) is a unique cultivar known for its very intense florals and unique sweetness.

For this beer they settled on "Acatenango" geisha, a washed process bean grown in Guatemala. The story goes that when the green bean buyers for the importer, Coffee Shrub, were selecting beans, they liked this one so much that they bought the entire production. They've continued to buy the entire crop each year since, and keep the location a secret.

The coffee brings bright floral notes, more noticeable in the beer as it warms.
